On Monday, March 17th, 2025, Hon. Atong Kuol Manyang, the National Minister of Trade and Industry of the Republic of South Sudan, officially opened the Pre-verification of Conformity to Standards services Workshop and Seminar.

The event was organized by Jasmine Contracting Trade and Consulting Ltd in partnership with Austria.In attendance were Hon. Mayen Deng Alier, Chairperson of the Specialist Committee on Trade in the National Legislative Assembly, Hon. Gloria Nyoka, Executive Director of the South Sudan National Bureau of Standards, among others.
In her remarks to the participants, Hon. Atong Kuol Manyang expressed her gratitude to Jasmine Contracting Trade and Consulting Ltd in partnership with Austria for organizing the workshop.She emphasized the importance of consumer protection, particularly for imported goods, and highlighted South Sudan’s abundant non-renewable resources. She stressed the need to protect the market from counterfeit goods entering the country by adhering to the rules and regulations of the South Sudan National Bureau of Standards. The Ministry of Trade and Industry’s role, according to Hon. Atong, is to oversee the work and provide assistance. She expressed her ministry’s readiness to support the National Bureau of Standards in protecting goods entering South Sudan.
